About Combwich
Combwich is the main village within the civil parish of Otterhampton, the other villages being Steart and Otterhampton. It is situated in Somerset on the southern side of the river Parrett approximately four miles from its mouth where it joins the Bristol Channel. Combwich Common is a site of special scientific interest and the pill is a natural harbour subject to the second largest tidal range in the world.
The cul-de-sac nature of the village gives it an intimate atmosphere and with only one church, a village hall, a school, a shop and one pub the rest of the village is given over to approximately 350 residential dwellings some of which date back to 1760.
To the south-east of the village there is a large fishing pond formed in the earthworks of a former clay quarry.
